Product filters allow you to refine your product search using multiple search criteria to produce a list of matching products.

You can perform the following product filter functions:

  • View filter(s)
  • Create a filter (Define, Apply and Save)
  • Load a filter
  • Edit a filter
  • Delete a filter
  • Clear a filter

N.B. You can also set a Default Product Filter in Global Settings.

See link to Product Filters article at the end of the video for more details.

Related PIM Functions
Filters also allow you to produce a list of products that can then be used with these additional Comestri PIM functions:

  • Bulk Edits
These are a function of the Comestri PIM that allow you to perform an action on multiple products at the same time.
  • Export Products
This function lets you quickly export and download a filtered list of products in either CSV or MS Excel Workbook file format to your computer.

Accessing Product Filters

You can create and manage product filters from 2 places in the Comestri PIM.

1. Filters page – is where you’ll find saved product filters. From this page you can edit and delete product filters. You can also link through to the Manage Products page where you can create new product filters.

2. Manage Products page – is where you can create product filters. From this page you can define and save a new product filter, save as a Quick Filter, and load an existing product filter.

Next, you’ll be taken through functionality available on the Filters page.

To go to the Filters page, click Products on the main menu, then click Filters on the expanded menu.

The Filters page opens.

On this page you’ll see a list of existing product filters, with further details. Note that filters can be associated with Bulk Edits.

From the Filters page you can Edit or Delete existing product filters.

The Filters box lets you search for filters in the list. This generic search function is not part of product filter functionality.

Clicking the New Filter button takes you to the Manage Products page where you can create a product filter and perform other functions.

Next, you’ll be taken through the filter functionality on the Manage Products page.

Under Products on the main menu, click Manage Products on the expanded menu.

The Manage Products page opens.

Here, to access product filter functionality, click Filter which will open the ‘Advanced Product Search & Filter’ section.

Next, using the Load Filter dropdown list, we’ll load an existing filter to display more filter functionality.

Note that the New button and Search Products field are not a part of product filter functionality.

Next, you’ll be given an overview of product filter functionality.

Filter – opens and closes the ‘Advanced Product Search & Filter’ section

Quick Filters – displays filters that have been saved as Quick Filters

List View/Tree View – offers options to change display of products in the product grid

List View – displays products in a flat structure

Tree View – displays products in a hierarchical structure

The end of the list has several predefined filters called Actionable Product Insights.

Search Term – the field that is searched against when the filter is applied

Operator – displays logical operators used to match the Search Term with the Search Value. Click the ‘i’ symbol to display definitions.

Search Value – contains the value(s) the Operator will try to match against a Search Term

Edit Filter – takes you to the Edit Filter page where you can edit existing filters. Only appears when an existing filter is applied

Bin – allows you to delete a filter criteria

Load Filter – displays existing filters that you can load

Clear Filter(s) – allows you to clear an applied filter. Only appears when filter criteria have been added

Apply – applies the filter criteria to your products. Selected Quick Filters or loaded filters apply automatically

Export Products & Bulk Edits – these are PIM functions that use product filters

Next, you’ll create a product filter.

Create Product Filter – Example

Suppose you’ve just loaded party dresses into the Comestri PIM from your stock management system. You now want to check that all your dress styles have been successfully uploaded.

You could create a product filter (i.e. define, apply and save a filter) to produce a list of all your party dresses in the Comestri PIM.

This example product filter will search for:

1. Products with the Department Attribute value of ‘Dresses’ and

2. Products with the Occasion Attribute value of ‘Party’

To start, on the Manage Products page, click the Filter button.

Then, click the Refine By button to select the Search Term you want to use.

For the first Search Term, select ‘Department’ from the Refine By dropdown list.

Next, select ‘equals’ from the Operator dropdown list.

Then, select ‘Dresses’ from the Search Value dropdown list.

For the second Search Term, select ‘Occasion’ from the Refine By dropdown list.

Next, select ‘equals’ from the Operator dropdown list.

Then, select ‘Party’ from the Search Value dropdown list.

The filter criteria will find products that have the information you have defined using the Search Term, Operator and Search Value.

Once you’ve finished defining your filter criteria, click the Apply button to produce a filtered list of products.

Click the Save Filter button to save the filter for future use.

The New Filter dialog box opens with a system-generated Filter code and Filter name.

Enter ‘party-dresses’ as the Filter code. N.B. This field must not be left blank or contain spaces.

Next, enter ‘Party Dresses’ as the Filter name. N.B. This field must not be left blank.

You’ll also save this Filter as a Quick Filter. (Quick Filters appear in the Quick Filters dropdown list on the Manage Products page.)

Select the checkbox labelled ‘Show this filter under “Quick Filters” dropdown menu’.

Once you’ve filled in these fields, click Save.

A slide-in message appears confirming the filter has been saved.

You can now click the Quick Filters dropdown to access your filter in the list.

This ends the example of creating a product filter in the Comestri PIM.
